Caged
A creature
Once released
Cannot be recaptured.
It has tasted freedom
The very essence of the thing has
Changed
Become something it was not.
Some creatures should not be caged
Not ever.
Because some creatures
Learn what freedom means only because
They know what it is
To be caged.
And so the creature must rampage
Or else must die
For freedom is a delicacy
Not oft sampled
Rarely given wholesale.
The seemly Seelie in me
Says soft and flowery things
She twists through garden vines
And suckles on the nectar of the tempted flowers
Who fail to hide as she passes.
They are bold and bright and beautiful.
And they are me.
My blood, my love, is tainted with this
Seeming Seelie softness.
It clings to my lashes and
Whispers in my ear that
I will have you by my side.
I do not deny this - I know it to be true
By your own admission
Your own promise uttered through a song
The Seelie speaks fair.
But my nature
My love
Is split.
For there are two halves -
Two sides -
Two roles to play.
Unseemly Unseelie
Calls
for
Blood
She wants it?
She wishes for that I do not offer?
Then come
Victoria
Drink
your
Fill.
If this is what you wish
Take all you need.
Grow fat and warm
On your stolen love
So I may greater enjoy the
Vengeance
I wish to reap
Upon your form.
You have debts to pay.
And so do I.
I was not worthy of the promise made to me.
